"I, Elijah, the prophet of God, had told the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal to choose a bull for their sacrifice... They did so... They then prepared it.... They next put it on top of the wood on their altar... They looked at me to see what they should do next.... So I told them to call on the name of their god since they were not to set fire to their sacrifice.... They have been calling out since this morning... It is now afternoon..... But their god seems too busy to respond... They even decided to dance around the altar... Their god does not seem to be too impressed with their dancing... PART XIII
It is time for the prophet Elijah to give specific instructions to the prophets of Baal in preparation for their sacrifice to their god as you can read in 1 Kings 18:25-26
Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire." So they took the bull given them and prepared it. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. "O, Baal, answer us."But there was no response; no-one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.
The prophets of Baal are giving a big display of their loyalty to Baal. But there is no response from their god.
