A WALK THROUGH THE BOOK OF ACTS
PART XXII - VIII
"I, Paul, knew that the next statement I was going to make to the crowd in front of the temple in Jerusalem would be a most challenging statement.... Yes I knew that I had no choice but to make it... I waited for a moment or two before making that statement.... So far the crowd had behaved so well... They had patiently listened to me... But I knew that could change any moment....I was concerned that the moment of change had arrived...And I was right!....For as soon as I uttered the next words the crowd broke out in an uproar.... Why was that?... Because I had told them that the Lord had said to me to go to the Gentiles.... As good Jews, they consider Gentiles to be unclean... I used to believe that as well.... But God has shown me differently.... I now know that God views Jews and Gentiles alike.... That He loves all people regardless of nationality, status in life, or gender.... I now love all people like He does... But the crowd in front of me did not know that as yet... They began to riot so the commander had me taken into the barracks.".. Please read the typed out attachment when you will learn that Paul told the crowd in front of him that God had sent him to the Gentiles....

PART XXII - VIII
However, Paul had more to say to the crowd in front of the temple in Jerusalem as you can read in Acts 22:21
"Then the Lord said to me, "Go, I will send you far away to the Gentiles."
The moment the people heard these words, they broke out in an uproar for how could God have told this man Paul to go to the Gentiles? Did he not know that Gentiles are unclean and should not be communicated with? They had listened long enough. It was time to deal with this man Paul by getting rid of him as you can read in Acts 22:22
The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. Then they raised their voices and shouted, "Rid the earth of him! He's not fit to live!"
All of a sudden the situation changed so the Roman commander decided to step in as you can know from Acts 22:23-24
As they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, the commander ordered Paul to be taken into the barracks. He directed that he be flogged and questioned in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this.
Having been taken to a place of safety, Paul was next in danger of being floggd. The people, no doubt, would have been happy for him to have gone through that.
