A WALK THROUGH THE BOOK OF ACTS

                           PART XX - V

"I, Paul, knew I still had one more issue I needed to talk about with the elders of the church in Ephesus... It was an issue I had been talking about with them throughout my time with them.... It was the issue of false teachers....I began by helping them understand that it was the Holy Spirit who had given them the positon of overseers.... They had not placed themselves in their position as overseers.... No, the Holy Spirit had placed them in that position... This meant that they were responsible to Him for the way they served the church of God... I then spoke with them about their responsibility as shepherds of the flock...For they must be on guard against false teachers who would surely try and invade the church....I finally committed them to the Lord before we said our tearful goodbyes.".... Please read the typed out attachment when you will learn of Paul's final words to the elders of the church in Ephesus....

                                                             PART XX - V

There was only one more thing Paul had to share with the elders of the church in Ephesus: he had to warn them of false teachers who would come in as you can read in Acts 20:28-31

"Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning you night and day with tears."

Paul knew that, even though he could no longer be with these precious believers, the Lord would continue to be with them as you can read in Acts 20:32

"Now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified."

It was, of course, very hard for these believers to let Paul go as you can read in Acts 20:37-38

They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him. What grieved them most was the statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.

It was time for these believers to say goodbye to Paul as he was on his way to Jerusalem.
