                                                                                   Read Part One HERE

A WALK TROUGH THE BOOK OF ACTS

                 PART XVIII - II

"I, Paul, while in Corinth met this wonderful couple Aquila and Priscilla... They are a joy to be with.... I met as well with a group of Jews... For I used to go to the synagogue to preach to them about the Lord Jesus... Unfortunately, these Jews were very obstinate on the whole.... They refused to accept my message... So I decided I should start going to the Gentiles instead.... Thankfully, though, not all Jews refused to believe my message... For the synagogue leader and his entire household became followers of the Lord Jesus... Praise God.... All in all, it has been a very stressful time.... And I have become somewhat anxious wondering whether or not I should continue speaking to people here about the Lord Jesus... But then the Lord appeared to me in a vision last night.... And He encouraged me to go on speaking... For He has many more people for me to reach with the Good News of the Lord Jesus.... I now know that I am to remain here for the foreseeable future.... And I am confident that the Lord will give me the strength to do so.... It was so kind of the Lord to come to me in a vision...And to reassure me that He is with me... Others may not have known about my anxiety... And would have been very surprised to think that I, the mighty Apostle Paul, who seems not to be afraid of anything.....Could be anxious.... But God knew... And He knew what to do about it...He did not mind that I had become somewhat afraid... He just told me there was no need for me to be afraid... Because He was going to be with me.... These words are sufficient for me to be able to carry on here.".... Please read the typed out attachment when you will learn of the Lord's ministry to Paul during his time of anxiety....

                                                         PART XVIII - II

Did none of the Jews in Corinth, who had heard Paul preach, believe? No, for the synagogue leader and his entire household became believers, as you can know from Acts 18:8

Crispus, the synagogue leader and his entire household believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians believed and were baptised.

Nevertheless, things must have been difficult for Paul to the point where he may have begun to wonder whether or not he should stay in that city. The Lord must have been aware of his anxiety as you can learn from Acts 18:9-10

One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision, "Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city."

Even the mighty Apostle Paul could sometimes be taken over by fear, as might have happened in this situation, so God came to re-assure him to not be afraid and to continue his ministry in that city, for God was going to protect him. These words so strengthened Paul that he continued his teaching and preaching ministry in Corinth for another one and a half years.

He eventually left and travelled to Ephesus, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila. However Paul did not stay long in Ephesus but continued his travels.
