A PURPOSEFUL LIFE; NEW TESTAMENT STORIES
A FAVOURED HOME PART XIII
"I, Martha, am living in Bethany with my sister Mary and our now deceased brother Lazarus.... We have a very good friend named Jesus.... He had come to see us after our brother Lazarus had died.... We had gone with Him to the tomb.... Very likely, He had gone there with us to mourn the loss of our brother,.... Interestingly, while there He told us to remove the stone from the tomb.... I warned Him that He should not have the stone removed because of the terrible odour.... No doubt, Jesus would not have been aware of this problem even though He had been around dead bodies....One of them was the body of the only son of a widow.... Jesus had met the funeral procession when the mourners were on their way to the tomb to bury him..... The son of this widow would, therefore, have been dead only a few hours.... That would have meant his body was not yet giving off a bad odour... And Jesus at the very moment that He met this procession raised the young man back to life... Praise God.".... Please read the typed out attachment when you will learn that Jesus raised the only son of a widow back to life a few hours after his death....

A FAVOURED HOME PART XIII
The first story Martha remembers is about the widow's son who had been raised from the dead as you can read in Luke 7:11-15
Soon afterwards Jesus went to a town called Nain, and His disciples and a large crowd went along with Him. As He approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out - the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her and He said, "Don't cry." Then He went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother."
Martha remembers that the son of this widow had only been dead for a few hours before Jesus brought him back to life. This would have meant that his body had no time to decompose so there had not yet been a terrible smell.
